At the time the bug hit, retrying the failed install step did not
resolve the problem. The program did not "crash" or present anything
other than the failure error message at the top level (of the alternate
install menu screens). On the day of the failure, I tried at least two
times and failed all times. Yet, at the same time, an install from the
desktop ISO image (to a full disk install, no encryption) worked.

I tried to repeat the install yesterday from the alternate CD image,
and instead of failing, it succeeded.

I have been trying the standard install with full disk encryption (over
LVM), at the time of the failure. Yesterday, I tried installing both to
the disk with full disk encryption (using LVM) and a regular full disk
install (no LVM and no encryption). Both worked without errors,
succeeding in using the us.archive.ubuntu.com mirror. Maybe something
was out of sync with the mirror I reached at the time of the failure.
Or maybe a network glitch getting out past the corporate firewall. I
don't know.

If it happens again, what log files would you like me to try and grab?
Feel free to point me to a web page listing how to obtain the
information you want while running from the alternate disk installer's
commands. I will need to use sftp to transfer any log files to another
system in order to review before possibly sending along.
