@Dmole. In my case the device is a little 4 gig USB stick. You cannot test that internally.
This bug has been a bain for years. The copy starts good then progressively slows down to a crawl as has been reported many times. In windows this does not happen. Therefore kernel maybe reason If you have a test for me to do on my USB stick I'm more than willing to participate. I even tried the mainlone kernel once.
