Hi David! It looks like the driver is trying to use the headphone port as a line input instead (!).
Could you please try the following: edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add this line: options snd-hda-intel model=auto After that, reboot, and try all inputs and outputs and see if they are now working as expected. If this does not work, remove that line again, and instead try this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS Let me know if either of these approaches work for you. Thank you! ** Changed in: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971561 Title: [MacBook5,2, Realtek ALC889A, Green Headphone Out, Rear] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/971561/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
