Hi David!

It looks like the driver is trying to use the headphone port as a line
input instead (!).

Could you please try the following:
edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add this line:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto 
After that, reboot, and try all inputs and outputs and see if they are now 
working as expected.

If this does not work, remove that line again, and instead try this:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS
