I have the same issue with the latest 10.04 kernel, e1000e driver, and Intel 82578DC controller. When I switch on my system, it will boot and load e1000e, but no eth* interface is present. Even repeated rmmod and modprobe don't bring up the interface. After a reboot (i.e. no fresh power-up) it works just fine. After the next power-cycle the problem is there again. I found the difference between the "good" (reboot) and "bad" (power-on) is this syslog entry:
e1000e: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -5 This does not occur after the reboot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/896957 Title: ethernet card not working on Lenovo T60 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/896957/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
