I'd really like to resolve this issue since it stops me from using and recommending ubuntu to the rest of my company and friends. I'll take debian and ubuntu sources and diff against each other to see what differences there are. So far it's only ubuntu that has this bug, debian, redhat, freebsd, dragonflybsd, works, I will try gnusolaris to see if this ubuntu bug affects it.
