Public bug reported:

when i try install ubuntu(11.10 and 12.04beta) on the asus k53sm machine
with i7 processor, the installation terminates immediately after the
splash screen saying it is due signal 9. When i install windows7 on the
same machine it works fine, so no problem with the hardware.
