Verified with this build:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04/beta-2/ubuntu-12.04-beta2-dvd-
amd64.iso, and my card is recognized and worked as expected. But I
cannot help you verify with the upstream kernel.

Basically, this issue is caused by missing PATA related drivers/kernel
modules. The following two kernel modules are required for my particular
issue:

CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI_PCIE=m
CONFIG_PATA_JMICRON=m

more PATA related drivers may needed to work with other devices.
