Interestung, when I remove those options it doesn't even get to the progress
bar, it just freezes immediately. In neither case is there any error
message. Sorry I can't be of more help.

It doesn't say "usplash" btw, it says "spllash --".

I noticed another thing. At the top of the screen, there is some small green
text that says "loading kernel" or something like that. But there is
actually *two* copies of this text, next to each other. Definitely a
graphics problem...
