Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: exaile
Exaile has developed the following strange behaviour: When I add songs
from my library to the playlist and start playback, exaile adds some
more of its own choosing from the library. It doesn't add these extra
songs until I start playback. I'm not sure what it's criteria are, but
there is evidently some kind of pattern.
For example:
Just now I dropped Tom Jobim's Samba do Avião to the playlist and exaile
decided to add five songs of its own, all by Brazilian artists. This
would mean that the songs all come from the same subdirectory of one of
the two directories that I have nominated in the library manager.
Then I dropped the whole of Massilia Sound System's Aïoliwood into the
playlist. As the first track started playing M's Pop Muzik was added.
All the other tracks each caused one song from an album by Asian Dub
Foundation. When these songs in their turn started playing, a host of
new songs were added, most of them from various Kraftwerk albums, along
with 3 songs by Radiohead and two by the Aphex Twin. Pop Muzik itself
caused a Bowie song to be added. Since my music collection is arranged
in subdirectories according to the artist's country or region, and that
albums by particular artists are each stored in their own directory as
subdirectories of a directory named after that artist. This would mean
that the Bowie song would be in the same subdirectory of my library as
Pop Muzik, but the others are not so closely related (within the file
system) to the tracks that summoned them, although most of them are
related to each other.
I imagine that database corruption would have something to do with this,
in which case you will probably want a copy of my database and a
directory listing. I'm not keen on publishing so much of my personal
information on the web. Would it be possible to send these privately if
you need them?
