I also facing similar issue whenever I make dual boot with a Windows system. Currently I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 (with Gnome 3 Shell) and Windows 7 Operating systems on my Lenovo G570 with 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Intel® Core™ i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10GHz × 4 Processor and Intel® Sandybridge Mobile x86/MMX/SSE2 Graphics. I have ethernet connectivity for Internet and apache2, mysql services runs at startup. I've attached my bootchart image-cast with this comment to provide more useful graphical info on how my system takes time to execute different programs.
