Like the title says, this is about "Feisty crashes after grub if usplash
enabled (amd64)". This has nothing to do with X.org, or problems with
X.org drivers, or non-amd64 machines. It seems it's limited to ATI's
R420/R423 cards (X800-series), though there was a mention about nvidia
GeForce Go 6100 + 32-bit but indeed it might good to have a different
bug for it.

The known workarounds include removing the "splash" parameter from the
kernel boot line, or adding, for example, "vga=792" parameter with which
you don't need to be without splash screen either.

Please do not add further comments unless you have eg. a patch which
fixes the problem, or some new information about this specific problem
that is not covered in the tens of earlier messages.
