The mail-notification that is being shipped for Precise depends on
libgmime-2.4-2 version >= 2.4.11.
Evolution does not depend on libgmime (as far as I can see), so there should
not be any conflict anymore.
So, could you try the Precise package of mail-notification and report
back whether your issue is indeed solved, or not?
