First we need to identify which upstream kernel first introduced the bug. It sounds like you did not see this bug in Oneiric and first saw it after upgrading to Precise.
All of the upstream kernels are available at: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ Basically we want to identify the last kernel that did not have this bug, and the first kernel that did. Then we can bisect between the two of them. Can you test the first upstream(That is built for PAE) v3.2 kernel, which is v3.2-rc4? The rc1 - rc3 kernels don't seem to have a pae kernel built. The v3.2-rc4 kernel can be downloaded from: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.2-rc4-precise/ If the bug exists in v3.2-rc4, then we will want to test some of the v3.1 kernels.
