I am not sure I understand this completely, but for the spurious fault there is a comment in the code saying that virtualization instructions may fail if turned off after reboot but processes using them. Not sure this means reboot of guest or host and if host how processes may use them still... But anyway, it cannot harm to check. Christoph, when you go into your BIOS, is there some option about virtualization feature of the cpu, and is it turned on?
