Public bug reported:

When you run npm, it crashes every time. I Googled and it's Debian bug
664660. It was fixed in Debian by upgrading to a newer NPM, see Debian
bug 622628.

I am using Precise (12.04) Beta 2, with updates as of 13 April 2012 at
15:30 UK time.

Is it possible to take a newer NPM this close to the freeze? If not,
perhaps NPM should be dropped from Precise. Shipping a broken package
doesn't seem very useful...
