Seems to work fine for me but I am not sure what exactly you mean with
"click on column E":

When you have opened the dialog there will be likely be some items in the sort 
specification:
column A, column B, column C etc.
If you just "click on column E" there you haven't changed the sort specs so it 
will sort by column A, in case of a tie consider column B, etc

If you want to sort only by column E you should either move E to the top
or delete columns A to D from the sort specification.

I don't see a bug here.
