Regarding Phillippe Coval's message,
I don't know for certain, but it looks like that message indicates that your
BIOS is set to not allow the OS to manage power.
In my BIOS settings, I can set it for BIOS managed power, a custom plan,
or OS managed power. I think what the message is indicating is that you
have it set to something that disallows the OS managing your power.
Check your BIOS settings or if you can't find anything call the company
that made your BIOS or who you bought the computer from -- if it is a
newer system (post 2008), it SHOULD allow the OS to control the power
(BIOS's before that would allow it if the functionality was built into
the machine, but it's possible machines before that might not have had
the functionality to allow the OS to control the ACPI...
(I got here because I was looking up what this meant:
PCI: Using host bridge windows from ACPI; if necessary, use "pci=nocrs" and
report a bug
(what does 'if necessary' mean?) -- later I get:
ACPI Error: No handler for Region [IPMI] (ffff880c04d8c240) [IPMI]
(20110623/evregion-373)
ACPI Error: Region IPMI (ID=7) has no handler (20110623/exfldio-292)
ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PMI0._GHL] (Node
ffff880c04d8bb18), AE_NOT_EXIST (20110623/psparse-536)
ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PMI0._PMC] (Node
ffff880c04d8ba78), AE_NOT_EXIST (20110623/psparse-536)
ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_EXIST, Evaluating _PMC (20110623/power_meter-773)
(Kernel 3.1.3+IMQ)
I can query the ipmi on the machine and get the power consumption -- but I
don't know if it is
in any standard format (I looked at the ipmi output and wrote a prog to parse
it...and get the power that way...not through standard calls)...
