Not surprising, the installation of texlive2007 from iso messed up your
TeX system, a short list what has happened:
- changed path
- changed formats
- changed languages
- ...

What do you expect by installing stuff which is not packaged?

Irrelevant, the search paths of TeX are wrong, probably the maintainer
scripts call the wrong binaries, because they use unqualified (as
specified by the policy) executable, so probably
/opt/texlive2007/bin/arch/foobar is called instead of /usr/bin/foobar,
then all the stuff is messed up, of course ...

There is no upgrade in upstream TeX Live, only uninstall old one,
install new one.

Ming, please close this bug, nobody can help if you mix packaged
programs and unpackaged programs without knowing what you are doing.
