Thanks for your response.
On 2012-04-17 - upgraded simple-scan 3.4.0-0ubuntu3 to 3.4.1-0ubuntu1
I have not attempted to reinstall previous version, but I will. While I
understand that "Simple Scan does not support your scanner perfectly," the
point is that it did work. The scanner continues to work in Ubuntu 11.10 on
the same machine.
