** Attachment added: "win7.xml"
   https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986133/+attachment/3095496/+files/win7.xml

** Description changed:

  Today I tried to boot an old Windows 7 vm. I am not sure the last time I
booted it (probably not the whole 12.04 cycle). The domain xml had the
following:
-     <video>
-       <model type='vga' vram='9216' heads='1'/>
-       <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02'
function='0x0'/>
-     </video>
+     <video>
+       <model type='vga' vram='9216' heads='1'/>
+       <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02'
function='0x0'/>
+     </video>

  However it would not boot unless I changed this to:
-     <video>
-       <model type='cirrus' vram='9216' heads='1'/>
-       <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02'
function='0x0'/>
-     </video>
+     <video>
+       <model type='cirrus' vram='9216' heads='1'/>
+       <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02'
function='0x0'/>
+     </video>
+
+ I have several Windows XP guests as well, and I had to change all of
+ them to use 'cirrus' as well.

  This probably needs a release note as the error message was not at all
  clear and this may be a usability issues for people upgrading to
  precise. Full domain xml is attached.
