Public bug reported:

I added a System Monitor "applet" (or whatever it's called...) to the
Unity main menu bar (don't know its proper name either). When clicked,
it shows a drop-down menu with various statistics, which is as it should
be.

However, it shares the menu bar with other items, e.g. the user switcher
and the power off button. When those are clicked, they show their own
drop-down menus, but since I added the system monitor applet, for some
reason the applet's drop-down menu appears instead of e.g. the user
switcher menu, in effect preventing user switching or even suspending
the machine from the menu.

The workaround is to use keyboard shortcuts to switch to a different
user (<Ctrl>-<Alt>-F7/F8/F9) or suspend the machine.

The problem is illustrated with the attached screenshot:

http://www.screenshots.cc/show/67254/675ja

The screenshot did not capture the mouse pointer, but the mouse was in
the upper right corner, not the upper left where the system monitor is.

It might be worth pointing out that the problem does not occur with all
icons in the menu bar, e.g. the calendar works fine.
