I am having the same issue with my dv6qe for months now. I've just about given up. Would be really nice to have all four speakers playing. With 12.04 I can fade between front and rear and when I fade to rear, all sound goes away. I've tried all the alsa-base.conf settings mentioned and could not get anything to make all four speakers active.
