I fixed this by removing all "nvidia-*" packages, adding the nvidia PPA (http://ppa.launchpad.net/nvidia-vdpau/ppa/ubuntu), and reinstalling linux-headers package that match the running kernel (in my case, Ubuntu 10.04, 2.6.38-10-generic) and _afterwards_ the nvidia-current package (280.13-0ubuntu1-lucid-xup2) (which triggers recompilation of the kernel module), then rebooting.
I guess the problem is that the "nvidia.ko" or "nvidia-current.ko" module is simply not being built and shipped with the package, probably due to license issues. This file was nowhere on my system before I reinstalled the drivers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/864739 Title: Ubuntu doesn't work on HP Elitebook 8560w To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/864739/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
