** Summary changed: - kernel 2.6.20-16 nvidia-glx and nvidia-glx-new won't load + kernel 2.6.20-16 race condition fstab mount -bind /lib on /md0/lib
** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20 + There appears to be a difference between the 2.6.20-15 kernel and the + 2.6.20-16 kernel in the timing of the mounts in fstab. + + Originally, I had /lib mounted on /md0/lib (raid 0). This worked fine + under the -15 kernel. This failed under the -16 kernel with the symptoms + listed below. + + These were the symptoms. After updating Feisty to the 2.6.20-16 kernel, linux-image-2/6/20-16-generic and linux-restricted-modules-generic X-Windows doesn't work. lsmod doesn't show any nvidia driver I tried both nvidia-glx and nvidia-glx-new It works fine with the -15 kernel. I have tried on two different machines, one with a geforce 6600 and the other with a 7800 series nvidia card. I don't have any of the other problems I have seen mentioned about the -16 kernel, like the SATA problem. All of my drives are SATA, one RAID-1 and another single drive. -- kernel 2.6.20-16 race condition fstab mount -bind /lib on /md0/lib https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118221 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
