Unfortunately it is not a one-time-occurrence - happens even on cold boot a few seconds after login. I have a deja vu that we had that problem already with a previous Ubuntu version where it got fixed.
Interestingly although I had several crashes right after boot with the beta version also, this problem did not occur (and I tested the beta exactly on the same machine).
