Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

If I launch an icon by double-clicking on it and then move the mouse
before the app launches then the panel hosting the icon I clicked will
move to the side where the mouse moved. To get the panel back to its
original position I need to go into the panel's properties and change
the orientation back to top.

How to repeat:
In the default Gnome desktop, double-click on the Firefox icon and then quickly
move the mouse to the right side before Firefox launches. For me, I can get
this to recur at least 20% of the time, or even more frequent if there is a
load on the computer such as launching some other app (e.g., OpenOffice) and
then double-clicking on the Firefox icon, followed by moving the mouse away.

I got this same behavior on both my Feisty Desktop i386 installation as
well as on a Feisty Desktop AMD64 LiveCD.

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
