Public bug reported:

I opened GVim do do some text editing with many other applications open
(chrome x1, pidgin x1 (minimised), sametime x2, notes x1, cmvc x2. GVim
had a functioning button in the launcher.

Later the GVim icon has reverted to the launcher icon state, like the
application is not open, it is. It does not appear in alt+tab either.
