I haven't found such a webpage, but I was just talking to an experienced Ubuntu developer yesterday who said he had this set to avoid Network Manager stomping on it, so had to manually undo this as part of the upgrade. I'm wondering if we should automatically chattr -i the file on upgrade as necessary, since this is in fact not a supported configuration.
