Gerard: Wow. The only way you're going to get that card going with binary drivers is by using drivers newer than the ones that ship with Ubuntu Feisty (and just so you know Ubuntu won't be packaging newer binary drivers than they are at the moment until Gusty comes out in October). I'm somewhat shocked that NVIDIA have passed the buck in this fashion but I guess they are fed up of being inundated with problems regarding using their binary driver pkg on Ubuntu.
As a one off, if you file a support query over at http://answers.launchpad.net/ please post a link to it in this bug report and I'll follow it and see if I can help you get the newer drivers going (and I'll warn you about the various pitfalls too). I estimate it will take about 1.5 weeks though before there is success or we wind up having to give up though.
