This is easily reproduced in a clean, minimal chroot (no /etc/kernel- img.conf):
First, postinst fails: Setting up linux-image-2.6.22-6-generic (2.6.22-6.13) ... Running depmod. update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.22-6-generic Undefined subroutine &main::get called at /var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-2.6.22-6-generic.postinst line 576. I added "use Debconf::Client::ConfModule qw(:all);" to the top in hopes of a quick fix, but it only fails here instead: Setting up linux-image-2.6.22-6-generic (2.6.22-6.13) ... Running depmod. update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.22-6-generic Error retreiving answer for linux-image-2.6.22-6-generic/postinst/create-kimage-link-2.6.22-6-generic: linux-image-2.6.22-6-generic/postinst/create-kimage-link-2.6.22-6-generic doesn't exist at /var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-2.6.22-6-generic.postinst line 578, <STDIN> line 1.
