Public bug reported:
.xoj files in dolphin (I'm using kubuntu 12.04) are recognized as Gzip
archive and hence are opened in Ark.
This bug: #70520 suggests that there used to be a bug with the file
association solved in 2006.
When I go to System Settings -> File Associations -> application/x-xoj ,
there is a "Xournal note file" but somehow the files are still
recognized as Gzip archive.
