Clayton - Thanks for the update. It does sound like your issue was different than mine, but I'm glad it was resolved.
(For reference, because it's very difficult to detect whether a laptop is actually docked, upower instead looks at whether or not multiple displays are connected to the laptop, and uses that as a proxy for whether or not the laptop is docked.
