Public bug reported:

I am new to Ubuntu. Today I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS . It seemed to work just
fine. Every thing was working great. The desktop had all the proper format.
Then I decided to download and install the updates. After update were installed
I lost the icon for LOG OUT, SHUT OFF, PRINTERS, USER ACCOUNTS, ETC.
I reinstall Ubuntu and the icon came back, but again after undating the ICON
disappeared once again. Without that icon the only way I have to SHUTDOWN is to
unplug the computer.

** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
