I messed with this quite a bit tonight. I upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 (over wireless, btw) and upon restart, built-in wireless card pci id: 14e4:4315 was useless. Kept trying to follow suggestions and none seemed to work. Realized that the upgrade process had *disabled* the restricted drivers repository! As soon as I re-enabled that, Additonal Drivers (jokey) installed the driver properly. Aggravating waste of time. Hope this will help someone.
