I recently installed latest 12.04 LTS afresh on the same system for
which I had originally reported the issue. The issue is still there.
However, before installing to hard disk, I had tried the suspend resume
via live session and it worked. Unfortunately, after full install on
hard disk the issue came back again. I've removed 12.04 LTS from my
laptop now and back to Squeeze.

And yes, one more thing that I noticed is that my laptop heats up to
much higher temperature with Ubuntu than Debian Squeeze for same usage
pattern. This heating up issue has been there since 10.04 LTS.
