No it's not, with autologin your user still have a password, the login
manager just uses its privileges to log a defined user in without asking
for it on boot

Well, anyway it's sort of a side argument, there is still a confusing
behaviour there. The fact that it's not likely to hit a lot of users is
orthogonal, I will let others who have an opinion on the original
behaviour comment on that

Note though, it would help to have short descriptions or a summary
before the detailled version, we get hundred of bug reports a day and it
requires motivation to read a one page comment to try to understand an
issue (I just read half of the description here before giving up on it)
