This may appear to be the issue. A USB device was created using (what now appears to be older) instructions on the Ubuntu site. The device is formated as fat32. I believe it should not be limited by the number of charaters in those files names but that may be the case. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick
