Have put Lubuntu 12.04 on an aged laptop and a low spec desktop for the kids to
watch stuff on bbc iplayer with.
This issue is evident on both machines.
Fantastic OS, really quick and responsive but is a bit laborious to switch
between users as you have to put your password in twice, as described in posts
above. (putting a password in once is challenging enough for a 6 year old but
to have to do it a second time over with the clock ticking is proving a little
traumatic!).
I've tried to resole this but everything I read keeps coming back to either
editing ~/.xscreensaver manually or running xscreensaver-demo (which is
successfully updates ~/.xscreensaver ok).
it doesn't seem to matter what settings are in ~/.xscreensaver it still insists
on the passord being entered twice when you switch users.
thanks for reading
