If hibernate must be disabled by default (which IMHO is a silly idea,
since it makes the whole fact that hibernate even exists completely
undiscoverable), then rather than directing users to create a file in
/etc (hardly something that the average end-user is going to know how to
do), why not create a package that can be installed that enables the
option. This would show up in whatever GUI package management tool users
get to use these days, with a description like "install this to enable
hibernate on your system". That'd be far easier for end-users to do;
much more in-line with other tasks they probably already perform.
