Thank you. I will check Monday when I return to work and see if it's the cups package. I may try rolling back to the old cups package used in 11.10 and see if this solves the problem.

For example, if the global system settings is for one-sided printing and the setting chosen in an application e.g. Document Viewer is for two-sided printing, the output is one-sided. To enable duplex printing, this has to be set in global system printing settings. This is true also for color / grayscale settings. Other settings, like 2 pages per side, can be applied in the application print dialog.
