Public bug reported:

Having a hard time upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04. First a missing libc6
that stopped the upgrade after a few minutes, which I then fixed
according to askubuntu.com/questions/21987 (basically using Live CD to
copy the missing library), then, after restarting the upgrade with apt-
get dist-upgrade, everything looked good for a long time, but then the
above error regarding udftools. Was able to restart system without Live
CD, but am getting a lot of errors and crashes of certain programs (I
have clicked "yes" when asked to report so you should be getting
everything).
