** Attachment added: "dmidecode" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/904784/+attachment/3134788/+files/dmidecode
** Description changed: Ubuntu version: 11.10 x64 desktop edition Package: uncertain but probably related to alsa. The mute LED flashes red when sound isn't muted and turns off when sound is muted (exactly the opposite of what it is supposed to do). This is caused by BIOS not telling the driver the correct way to light the LED. On some models this can be fixed by simply updating BIOS to a newer version. However it doesn't seem to work for all models. I can confirm that it doesn't work on HP envy 14-2014eo (BIOS version F.09). There is a workaround located at: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound.git;a=commitdiff;h=e2ef36c688d5844a986424c3194bd33212c968ce#patch1 Thanks to Gustavo Maciel Dias Vieira<[email protected]> for discovering the origin as well as providing a workaround for the bug.
