I can help testing thing if needed. I'm currently running natty on my
macbookpro 6,2 and I'd like to do a fresh install of precise.

I'd like to add a few things though. Besides experiencing all that has
been already described, I tried the "Install ubuntu" option from efi
grub, and adding nomodeset to boot options I was able to complete the
install. Unfortunately I couldn't boot the new install, It failed in the
same way the 'Try ubuntu without installing' was failing. And it
installed grub to the efi partition, even though I selected the
partition in which I installed it.
