Hi Dave

Correction: this does not happen on mailto: links on arbitrary websites --
they do open in a new tab. This happens only when clicking on a link
in gmail.

Show Original Message in gmail gives

plain text: User Name <[email protected]>
html:

<a href=3D"mailto:[email protected]"; target=3D"_bla=
nk">User Name</a>

regards,
Jan
