Well, after reading the latest in this thread, I tried what Paul and Adam above did. It didn't work for me, but... something else worked: I uninstalled all linux "generic" packages (sifted through synaptic) and instead i installed their corresponding "386" cousins. All in the same transaction... And, go figure, now my wireless D-Link DWL 650+ cardbus adapter works. WORKS!
