You know - there was just, (last week), a failed 12.10 build of minitube
which still isn't allowing choice of backends.  Really getting tiresome
- no reason not to take 15 sec's to edit the control file to allow
either

So - how to edit a minitube .deb to allow - ex.  uses a .deb from a well known 
ppa so you can have the 1.7 version in 12.04

I will post a new reply to that thread tonight with instr. on building your own 
& will attach a source/debian/dsc  Then just 3 simple  commands & a couple of 
min. for a better version
(the source will be latest 1.7.1 + a patch for an obscure issue with the vlc 
backend
