To whom it may concern,
With the latest distributions and earlier versions of Ubuntu I have
noticed that XaraLX tends to crash once you have saved a xar drawing
file and open it again later to do more work on it. It is almost
constantly a problem. I have seemed to find a workaround the problem,
which also does not work everytime, but if I delete the .xaralx and
.xaralxfilters folders in the Home Folder and reopen XaraLX it will open
my saved file and I can work on it without hassle. This does not work
everytime.
For example. Make some text in XaraLX, give it an emboss, add a shadow
to it. Make a couple of copies of that object. Save the xar file. Close
Xara and reopen the saved file. Now try to play around with the shadow,
emboss of add more objects from scratch to that file. With various
versions of Ubuntu, the interface of XaraLX freezes up but the rest of
the Ubuntu system is working fine. I can force quit Xara, but if I try
open again and repeat, crash again. When I say crash it does not close,
it just stays stuck and frozen so that anything you click on its
interface just does not respond.
Please can you guys have a look into this. I personally believe this is
lack of development on Xara side because that they have not updated the
program since who knows when. Its the same version I used when I first
started using Linux about 2 1/2 years ago.

appreciated. I really enjoy using XaraLX and it my favourite vector
drawing program that I use all the time but its just so unstable.
