Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python

Installing Mailman on a fully patched ubuntu 6.0.6 x86 server install, I
run the command "newlist" which brings up the following error.

All packages are latest supplied from ubuntu repo - no backports.

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/sbin/newlist", line 79, in ?
    from Mailman import MailList
  File "/usr/lib/mailman/Mailman/MailList.py", line 40, in ?
    from email.Utils import getaddresses, formataddr, parseaddr
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/email/Utils.py", line 10, in ?
    import base64

This could be an error with mailman, but I doubt it as I have used as similar
versions as possible to ubuntu in a custom build and it works, I believe this
is a problem with the packaged version of python current in 6.0.6 (this is only
a theory).

** Affects: python-defaults (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
