Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this bug, I haven't had luck
figuring out the root cause.  Are you still having this problem?

If so, here are three xorg.conf files to try out a few different ideas.
Could you test these and see if any of them work?  Please upload the
/var/log/Xorg.0.log files from each trial, which may give us more info.

To use these, do:

# mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.mine
# cp xorg.conf.1 /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Try to start X
# cp /var/log/Xorg.0.log Xorg.0.log.1

Then repeat for .2 and .3, and upload the three Xorg.0.log.* files.
