I can confirm that upto kernel 3.1 the bios "bug" in Lenovo s10-3c will make the keyboard to NOT work if ACPI is enabled. I doubt if Lenovo bios update will fix the problem since with this model (and perhaps others) , Lenovo supplies only Windows and do not support any Linux. I tried a few BIOS updates and they didn't fix anything.
The only way to get it to work is to edit /etc/default/grub and change the below line - GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="acpi=off noapic" then run update-grub. I had to connect a USB keyboard then i could edit the file above and restart ubuntu. Also, the trackpad works fine whether ACPI is enabled or not. With ACPI disabled the laptop works great under XUbuntu 10.04 for me except I am unable to check the battery level in Ubuntu.
